FLY
FISHING

Glengarry has two kilometers of river fishing -
open in season,
and two stocked dams which are open all year round. Gear may be hired, and a limited stock of flies are also available.
Trout first came to Natal in 1882 in the form of some 10,000
ova presented to John Parker of Tetworth Farm.
Unfortunately the first shipment failed, as did the second, but patience prevailed, and in 1890 the first fry were released into the Bushmans, Umgeni and Mooi River.
So began many many hours of pleasure that remain to this day.
Today's trout rivers either hold Brown or Rainbow Trout. The
Little Mooi which runs through Glengarry's grounds,
is the home of the Brown Trout.
Glengarry's dams are stocked with Brown and Rainbow Trout.
The
photo shows a four and a half pounder, caught in the Little Mooi. (Don't get too excited though, the chances are that you'll come away with one pounders.)
